Like shade and shadow, this album tells two stories, takes two journeys.
On the one hand - memories of my childhood summers traveling the wild west for the first time, the rivers, lakes and mountains.
On the other hand - ghost towns. I imagine going back in time and recording the people who lived there, using a sort of steampunk audio machine - a Phonautograph. Then I assemble those moments - those phonautograms - into a story, like a haunted diary with crumbling pages and faded photographs.
